Default Reel questions

I have my favorite reel so far , my Revo STX. I am going to buy another 200.00 reel and wondered what to try next. I am going to give each maker a chance to see which one I like the best , then try to stick to that one brand exclusevely in the future. What brands have you guys had the most luck with ? I am thinking about the Quantum brand next , or Shimano.

Lol, I'm the same way. I know how you feel and it may be hard, but if I were you, I'd stick with that reel or get the SX. I've been trying to see which I like best, and so far, it's only hurt me. I've tried a couple of other brands, and ended up returning them like women do when they clothes shop. If you really want to try another brand, you should probably go with Quantum. You can find lots of great deals on those Quantums online. I think Pflueger is nice too. I don't like Daiwa very much, and I definitely don't like Shimano. This is ONLY my opinion, and many other people would COMPLETELY disagree with me. I'm currently trying to do everything I can to only buy the Revos. I can't pick between the high end Quantums and the Revos. I think I'm leaned more toward the Revos just because of how smooth the cranking and drag are.

Excuse my sloppy post.

I DO NOT like the old Abu's. The revos rock though...as you already know. Tour PT and Energy also rock. I got a Tour PT for 160 on ebay. Lately I've been buying off Ebay. There are a bunch of great deals.

zook i still like my torno and it is far from new! but why would you buy a high dollar reel that you like and then buy a different high dollar reel? i live by "if it aint broke don't fix it" and i too love revo's and in fact i don't think i will buy anything but revo's until they give me a reason to change. but if i were to buy another higher end reel i would look at the quantum energy pt. i am not really a quantum fan but i haven't heard anything bad about this reel.

i have several high end quatum pt reels. i think they ALL were painted by strike kings painting sevice.. every one inculding the tour edition pt reel has most of the paint missing off the reel.. you would think that if you pay out the but for a reel the paint will stay on it.. while my td advantage reel only has some light scuffing on the reel and it is OLDER then most of the quatums..

How long have you had yours, Zook? None of my paint has come off.

Just buy a Shimano, Daiwa, or Pflueger and settle it. I've heard nothing but bad about the Quantum Burner reels. I even had a man show me at Cabela's the difference between a Shimano Citica and a Quantum Burner. The test consisted of cranking the reel fast as possible, then stopping the handle abruptly with your hand. The Citica stopped no problem. The Burner stopped - with much noise and gears-a-grinding.

Enough said...

I started off with Shimano Curados. Had no trouble with them. I bought a Citica instead of the newer Curado and like them also. I have read some things about Shamano discontinuing the Curados to compete with the Revo's. I decided to try the Revo's and got a STX and a SX. I absolutly love the STX. The SX is ok. I also bought two Premier's. Haven't tried them yet other than practice casting. Personally I see no need to try another brand maybe other than a Fritts cranking reel. Good luck in your search.

Daiwa Viento or Feugo, I just recently bought a BPS Johnny Morris Signature Series reel and I like it very much. I has a dual brake system. The J.M. Elite Series should be even better if you want to try that.
