Thumbs up Congrats to the Big (Bad!) 12!

All 12 teams of the Large Dozen won their respective games y'day. Some scored early and often in the process. Others struggled a bit but managed to eke out wins.
Not all teams played quality opponents but those that did proved themselves worthy.
Non-B12 related...How 'bout dem Pirates of East Carolina??? (is that a state I've somehow overlooked) Last week they beat VaTech and y'day they downed West "By God!" Virginia. Two ranked teams beaten on two weeks!
Bad news from "My" game; Our opponent's gutsy and dangerous QB suffered a season-ending broken leg when nailed by the Sooners. Cincinnati played hard and made a fight of it in the second qtr...hats off to them. (OU 52 'Nnati 26) I wish the wounded Bearcat the best.
Other good news: Mike Sherman, latest in a string of coaches at Texiz A&M, got the "First Win" monkey off his back. Gig 'em!
Still more glad tidings...My old HS, San Antonio MacArthur, notched another shutout, 28-zip over Taft, to add to their 42-zero blanking of John Marshall in Week One. Not bad for a team picked one-from-the-cellar in their TOUGH district, according to pre-season polls. Of course, Marshall and Taft are non-district foes but they too are Class 5A. The real tests are yet to come.
OU note: Bob Stoops is two victories away from Win #100 in his tenth year in Sooner Land. When he achieves same, OU will be the first and ONLY school to have had four coaches with over 100 wins each...Benny Owen (pre-WW2, BTW), Bud Wilkinson (3 NCs), Barry "The King" Switzer (3 NCs), and Bob Stoops (1 NC and counting).
Like y'all give a pewp, right?
Well, off to raid the fridge.
God Bless All! God Bless America. God, PLEASE bring me Sarah Palin for Christmas!

yes to da east carolina pirates buddy!! they are truly showing that the acc is not yet there with the big boys. how'd you like the tide win over clemson? yea i know we squeeked by this last saturday. but we're getting there. i ain't one to gloat about the tide yet... we still are a loooong ways away from being a great team. but we have another push over to go before we start on our hardest trips (at arkansas,at georgia, attenn.,and at l s u). i still think we may finish 8-4, or maybe 9-3.okalahoma just might play usc for the championship if it keeps playing like they are. ohio state and georgia look like they may lose a game or two to me. lsu will lose a game in the sec. fla will too.

Update Factoid:

It was Travis Lewis, a redshirt freshman linebacker from San Antonio Robt. E. Lee HS, that made the tackle that resulted in the Bearcat QB's broken leg.
Good news update:

L6 my friend......look, we ain't gonna make this into that again are we? i don't want to get into a debate about that again, ok? as far as i am cncerned...we have 12. we will get another one in about 2 years. so if you want to say 8,9,10 or 2 don't matter to me ok? all i am saying is saban will get 3 champships IF he stays for the 8 years he is on contract. he is that good of a coach.

To quote from Wikipedia...Re The Crimson Tide.
"The team has won 21 SEC titles and 12 national championships in major polls (including 6 awarded by the Associated Press and 5 by the Coaches Poll).[12] Additionally, the team has compiled 31 10-win seasons"
Note that the AP poll is considered the gold standard.

Ahem...Dat 'ol Debbil Wiki again. Pesky rascals!...Re YOU-know-whom:
"The team has won numerous bowl games, 41 conference championships (including every Big Seven championship awarded), and seven Associated Press National Championships, making the Sooners football program the most decorated in the Big 12. Oklahoma has scored the most points in Division I-A football history despite the fact they have played over 60 fewer games than the second place school on that list.[2] OU also has the highest winning percentage of any team since the start of the AP poll in 1936.[3]
The Sooners possess seven national championships in football, with the 1950, 1955, 1956, 1974, 1975, 1985, and 2000 seasons featuring the top team in the Associated Press final poll, and the 2000 Bowl Championship Series National Championship as well.
They've won most national titles of any Division I college football team after the end of World War II (which is commonly used as the division between eras in college football)."
Now THIS is interesting! Has to do with reality, modesty, and honesty; again, from Ol' Wikipoo.
"In addition to these seven acknowledged national championships there are also nine additional years in which the NCAA's official record book recognizes the Sooners as national champions: 1949, 1953, 1957, 1967, 1973, 1978, 1980, 1986, 2003.[6] The University of Oklahoma does not acknowledge these additional "championships", as they were not awarded by the Associated Press, United Press International (UPI), USA Today Coaches Poll, or the Bowl Championship Series (BCS)."
Lemme seeeee...9+7...hmmmm...gimme a sec...gonna need fingers AND toes for this one (Alabama Abacus)...Oh, yeah...16 NCs.

Also, I find this to be of interest:

(Now can we get back to the rest of the season?)

No matter what, I'll always be a Tide fan. Saban and (some) others cannot ruin that for me.
Frankly, I cannot see OU "going all the way". With the talent level in the Big 12 there are too many "trap" games. In fact, I foresee MAYBE one team going undefeated. Prolly be Texas Tech if they bring their own refs.
If 'Bama can win the SEC outright then I vote them as one of the teams in the BIG ONE, v. a Big 12 team IF USC loses a game...not very likely unless some unless some of them violate probation.
What I REALLY want is to see is Mike Sherman succeed at TAMU. He seems to be a genuine "good guy". I truly hope they win all the rest...except one, of course. Well, you know why.

Thats no different from us lance. We can claim as many as 20 national titles. Look it up. We dont even claim '45 or '66. Its a good reason why I dont care to argue the number. Its always arbitrary.
