does anyone fish a dropshot rig much? i had never even heard of it till just a few days ago.
what situation do u fish it in? near grass, under docks, off of points, in the rocks? winter, fall, spring, summer, anytime? could someone send me a link to the kind of hooks and weights u use to fish it? do u fish it with a trick worm, U tail, or something else? sorry for all the quistions, but i have no idea how or when to tie this thing on. thanks, -spro |

http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/...les.html#lures - Main Page
http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/...assfish_2.html http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/dropshot_fish.html http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/drop-shot.html There are a couple of other reads on the page, but this is where I learned because every one laughed at me when I first started asking and trying it. They wasn't laughing when I was putting an unadulterated whippin' on them though at some of our honey holes on tough days.

Hey man, here's some basics, but Use the search tool here, there's ton of threads on the dropshot.
When/where- Any time, any where. Hooks- For weedless rigging, I prefer owner's dropshot hook or a size 2 gammy EWG. For normal, I use size 1 or 1/0 Gammy dropshot/split shot hooks. Baits- just about anything you can think of. From ribbon tail worms, to straight tail, to senko, to flukes, to creature baits, to lizards, to tubes. Kind of like the c-rig in this aspect. A few of my favorites are 4" power worms, power bait shaky worms, and zoom finesse worms. I recently got some Chomper's 4" DS worms and can't wait to try them. If you know how to set up the dropshot, fishing is a piece of cake. Cast it out or drop it vertical. Don't keep the line tight, but don't leave a ton of slack. on a windy day, I let the wind put a small bow in my line. Wiggle the bait with your rod tip, but don't lift the sinker off the bottom. Also, watch Kevin's video on the DS. That is one of my favorites. BB

As much as 50% of my fishing is done with a drop shot rig. It's my go to technique when things really slow down. I fish it along weed lines, in weed pockets, worked along semi weedy flats, and even from the shore back to the boat. 90% of the time I've got a 4 3/4 inch Zoom Finesse worm nose hooked on a 1/0 Gami drop shot hook.
For a more finesse presentation on the tops of weedbeds, going with a weighted wacky rigged stickbait.
