Here is the situation. Your fishing a northern lake thats been frozen over solid since November. Ice out was just two weeks ago. Not a large lake. Just 90 acres. It's a natural body of water, not a reservoir. Therefore, there are no feeder creeks, old road beds or acres of flooded timber. Just a few bays, points, a few holes, with mainly coontail and lilly pad fields which havn't come up yet. Water is still cold, only in the mid to upper 40's. You have 5 rods to take with you. What lures will you find tied to your rods to start the day? I'll get it started.
![]() Rod 1 will have a Smithwick Rattlin Rouge, suspending version. Rod 2 will have a 1/2 oz. chatterbait. Rod 3 will have a Jig N Pig. Rod 4 will have a Medium diving crankbait. Rod 5 will have a 5 inch soft bodied swimbait. Mainly because I hear they work well in early spring, and I've never used one this early in the year. I might add that I will have a 3/8 oz double colorado spinnerbait and a shallow crankbait very nearby! Last edited by keithdog; 03-23-09 at 07:11 PM. |
