Default Bass Territory

Alright, well, there has been one thing that I have been growing very curious about lately.

The question is:

Do bass tend to stay in one spot for long periods of time (ex. days, weeks, months)?

I was reading Fishngolfn's post and people were saying "now you know where she is" and stuff and it got me thinking. How do you know it will come back? I know that some bass are very territorial.

I read a book called "Bass Wisdom" that tells about a time where the author, as a school student, fished in a pond for a particular bass every day after school. He caught it almost everyday, but only once. Never twice on the same day. This says that bass have a memory, but a short one. But the thing is, it was around the same area each day... by a stump.
