my BC is right hand retreive, everything else is left hand retrieve.
but since my BC is broken, i'm intending on finding a left hand retreive, so i dont have to keep switching hands ![]()

You should make this poll "do you retrieve with your casting hand or the other one?" Left-handed people have been using a baitcaster correctly all along.

Technically, if you're right handed, you should use a lefty reel. that way, you cast with your right hand and reel with the left and don't have to switch hands. Now there are people who say they can switch hands before the lure even hits the water, but personally, I can't do that without some professional overrun.

I can.mainly when i'm powerfishing, or throwin a buzzy i do it. but if i'm throwing a spinner bait, or something that dosent really require you to reel soon as it hits the water, then i just let it hit, then switch. but i'm right handed so i cast with the right hand, and reel with the left.

Casting reels - Right. Spinning reels - Left. So does that count as both?

MI, yeah. That's how my dad fishes. I learned to fish from him on a spinning reel left handed (he's a lefty) and just stuck with it when I got my first baitcaster.

i do both...mostly cast with the right and reel with the right...but sometimes i cast lefty if its a short cast....when pitchin, i use my left hand...that way i dont have to keep switchin.

I will say one thing. I am glad they started making the baitcasters in left hand retrieve over the past few years. As a guy who fished spinning reels his whole life, I would NEVER get used to reeling with my right hand.

To me it's not about switching hands or casting righty or lefty it about working the lure like a jerk bait or a popper. I can't do either with my left hand. I cast right handed on both bait casters and spinning, I reel baitcasters right handed and spinning reels left handed, so I just use a spinning rod for jerk baits and poppers.

I only cast with the rod in my right hand, but will pitch with either. All of my spinning reels are a left hand retrieve. I have both for baitcasters. I prefer a left hand retrieval on my top water and jig rods. The rest are a right hand retrieve.

I still have some right handed bait casters, but I am weeding them out, I hate switching and absolutely love my lefty b/c's

Spinning reels left and casting reels right. I have just never been able to operate a left casting reel worth a hoot. In fact I sold the only one I had. I realize the advantage of lefty casting reels but they are not for me.

Cast right handed. Baitcaster - right reel handle and I have no problem switching hands, a left reeling baitcaster seems un-natural. Spinning - the opposite, reel with the left hand can't get used to a right side spinning reel. Go figure.

Left hand for spinning gear. Right hand for casting gear.

Same hear except I flip with both left and right with either spinning or baitcaster. Flipping is like that.
Always cast with right and feather with left on spinning. Capt Mike

Flip and pitch with a left handed reel. All other casting with a right handed reel.
