Others were cullin while I was cursin!!
I got a chance to fish in a local tourney this morning. Mostly a bragging rights tourney since the pay out was low.
I had no issue catching fish, heck I brought 11 into the boat in the first two hours. Unfortunately, every darn one of them was between 12-14 1/2 inches. With a size limit of 15", this went from humorous to darn right frustrating. By the end of the day, all I could do was laugh. It did not matter what I threw (topwater, plastics, cranks, spinnerbaits, jigs, and even swimbaits), I could get get a bite, but I did not catch a single fish that I could weigh in. By the noon check in, I had boated 26 non quallifying fish. The largest fell 1/8th short of being legal. Based off of all of the other fish being weighed in, this was issolated to me.

man i have had days like that, way too often. you know people will say that when this happens you need to go to a bigger bait to get bigger bites, or you should do this or you should do that. the only thing that i have ever found that will help sometimes is moving out to the next break line in depth. if you were fishing in say 8 feet of water and there is a little drop to 10 feet or so then i would fish that. if for sure doesn't help all the time but it has been the most consistant fix when i have this problem, but most of the time i think it is just fishing for ya.
at least you got to go fishing, i was sweating my guts out at work running an extruder that was around 400 degrees.

Did you fish the same structure pattern the whole day? Sometimes it seems that you try everything in your box when a simple change of location, water depth, or bottom structure will do wonders. Just a thought

I did vary locations, depth, and structure. My partner had three strong keepers from the same boat, so I just think it wasn't my day.
I sure didn't mean to sound like I was looking for sympathy. Heck, I was on water doing what I love. If the worse thing I have to say about June is that the fish were all small, then I don't deserve to fish.

it wasn't my day either cass. only went for about 4 hours though. late start, early finish too. blue bird skies, light wind, muddy water. a little too hot for lisa. so we went in.

yeah the FOM tournament on Murray it seemed like my dad and i were jsut weeding out the small ones....first it was raining and cold, so it was miserable(or as miserable as fishin can get)and the first cast my dad nailed a 2lber on a jig, then we caught like 6 short fish over two hours... then we started fishin this other place and it was like every cast i was catchin a fish..... i was catchin so fast my dad was measurin them for some reason.... the kept gettin bigger and bigger until i filled our limit.... caught like 10 fish and 4 were keepers... so it wasnt that bad but i know how it feels
