Knot question
This may be a dumb question but oh well. I'm wanting to know what is the difference between a uni knot and a double uni knot. I've heard mention of both in here but have only seen a diagram for tying the uni knot, and not the double uni knot.

The double uni is a knot for tying two pieces of line together, such as a main line and a leader.

The double uni is a strong as hell knot, but is pretty big and a bit of a pain to tie since you're gonna have 3 tag ends. All you do for the double is double the line over like you would in a Palomar, and proceed to tie the uni knot as you would with the double line.

Ok, thanks guys. Do you think the blood knot woould be a good alternative for tying a leader to the main line? I've used that knot for years without much trouble.

Mine, too. Something about that site made my computer nervous.

thats why I use Firefox with AdBlock and NoScript... no problems here.
It is the advertisements, not the site itself edit: looked through there and they have some good explanations of knots... |

I use Safari on a Mac and I have no issues with that site. It's a good one.

The Double Uni is the same as a Uni to Uni line connection knot and is an easy to tie and very reliable knot for joining two lines . The method BassBoss describes is incorrect and would result in a mess of a knot. The correct method is to tie two separate uni knots, one with each end of each line being joined and when you pull the lines in opposite directions, the two knots slide together to make one knot. I find it much easier to tie than the equally strong Blood Knot.
