I found out tonight that the batteries in my Berkley scale are dead.
Thankfully I found out now instead of looking at a new PB, a dead scale, and crying like a 12 year old with a skinned knee. Luckily, I was gonna use it to weigh up 7# of ground beef lol

What recipe calls for 7lbs of ground meat? Last year a buddy and I were fishing and he caught which was his pb. I did have a scale and the batts were dead. He wasn't too upset. We guessed the weight to be around 5lbs. Thanks for the reminder.

All of em! ![]() Never bothered weighing it out before, but figured it could save me under-beefing a chili some time. Ordered a 5 pack of batteries off ebay. Gonna carry spares in my tackle bag just in case

I bought an old fashioned spring scale for that very reason. I never quite trusted the battery operated scales...I know they work, I just dont like em.

I think I'm going to buy a spring scale too. I have a Berkley, or is it a Rapala, can't remember, digital scale that I don't think is accurate. I weighed a dink the other day, don't ask why and it said it weighed 1.5LBs, which it clearly didn't.

I should get a spring scale as a back-up/second opinion

Who needs scales, every fish I catch weighs over 5lbs by the time I get home. I've caught some fat 10" bass.

I don't think my berkley scale is right. My dad caught a nice fish they had to weight all of 5 lbs and the scales said 3. Everyone around said it was wrong. What is a pB?

BassinNC, a PB is a Personal Best . It is the largest weight fish of any species (that you have caught). So if the biggest bass you ever caught weighed 18lbs then that is your PB.

Yep that happened to me on the one below Wednesday. It is 22 inches long and fat, full if eggs. My wife went everywhere in town trying to find L1144 batteries with no luck. I did a search and found several that will cross ref. that are 11.6 mm X 5.4 last night, so I will retry agian for my Berkley. I am sure it is not as big as the one in the avatar at the left that was off the end of a long Golden rule, somewhere around 22.75 to 23 inches long and weighted 8.64 if the scale was right.

Becareful on which spring scale you buy. I had one from cabela's and it didn't work right. Caught a 7.4lber last year and weighted it on my digital scale which said 7.4 and even if it was wrong I know the fish wasn't 2.5 pounds which is what the spring scale said.
