I went to Dick's this morning to get some stuff with my GF's discount. On top of that a lot of stuff was on sale, so I saved a bundle. I picked up a new tackle bag from Okeechobee Fats that came with two medium utility boxes. Got two 3/8oz Rattlin' Rapalas in bluegill and baby bass, a 4" Husky Jerk in firetiger to to with my baby bass in the same size, and a Baby 1-Minus super shallow crank bait in crawfish from Mann's.
I also stopped by wally world and picked up a few of their $1 spinners in different colors to see if I can try and see what the bass around here like. If they start hitting on certain colors I will upgrade to some strike kings or Booyahs.

Congrats man! I love it when other people get bit by the monkey... it makes me feel like I'm not alone!
![]() ![]() As for the spinners, ya only need a few colors - White, Chartreuse, White/Chartreuse, and Sexy Shad. Good luck with them though. BB

![]() ![]() ![]() I have been bit before in the past, but this is the worst by far... lol I have never had so many lures, rods/reels, and other misc. stuff. I am actually getting ready to go get a box just for my beetle spins at Wal-mart when the rain lets up. I have been fishing for as long as I can remember, but I have never used lures this much in my life. I have not touched a live worm in months, and I have no urge to do so again, at least not in the foreseeable future. I have two strike king spinners, one in black, and the other black/blue. Of the wal-mart specials I got white, orange/yellow that I was hoping would get some hits because of the hits I have had on my orange beetle spins, and chartreuse. I am going to fish them as is, but I am thinking about pulling the skirts off the white and chart, ones and mixing them. I am just trying to get an idea what to put the real money into. Thanks!

get some 3" twirl tail grubs to use as trailers on teh spinner baits... they are cheap and add bulk and action to the bait...

Went out tonight to try out the new lures. Had a couple of follows on the white spinner, and a CC Super Spot fire tiger. Only strike came on the Rattlin' Rapala bluegill. He was only about a pound, but still better than nothing.

Replace the first 2 with Bluegill and the 3rd with Ozark Craw. Other than that, you nailed it! ![]()

Lol... I'll keep that in mind. I am not too worried though, I just bought them to test colors. I have some Booyah's in mind once I hit the right color combos.

I prefer the natural colors myself. Every lake around here has bluegills. Have yet to find a lake with chartreuse baitfish ![]()

Thanks!
I just picked up a couple of swim baits from Creme too. Another new lure for me... ![]() I also returned the CC Super Spot I bought at wal-mart and replaced it with a rattlin' rapala of the same color.

Around here... we use white spinners with willows in clear water and on sunny days... its a reaction bait and in no color does it look like a bait fish under close scrutinization.. white and willows just make it visible... when the water gets stained or clouds roll in i switch to either chartreuse or black and always to hammered gold colorados... this make a lot of thump so they can find it... and ALL my skirts have a few red strands in em.. i have lately been buying the strike king bleeding spinner replacement skirts.... but i probably have close to 100 spinner baits in red and shartreuse with hand tied skirts that still have stick staright wires that need to be bent into lures...
As for trailers i match teh trailer to the bait just like a jig... I have Black, White, and Chartruese trailers... I like em long enough for the curl part to stick out from behind teh skirt and that is it... i know some like those big long split tails, but i like teh added action of a twirl grub... |
