Default Tarpon fishing and the Oil spill

Found this article on ESPN today. It really gets to you, and makes you realize exactly what is going on.

I think y'all should give it a look.

It really hits because it's affecting people who do what we do, fish. Now they can't fish. Severed, gone, just like that. I don't know what I'd do if I knew that I wouldn't be able to pursue my passion.

It's hard to realize the impact this is having on people's lives. My neighbor has a beach house there and the oil has just come ashore, she had a dolphin wash up a couple days ago. A guy she knew was a fishing boat captain and he and his crew have been jumping through the hoops to get paid by BP for patrolling the beaches. He dropped his guys off the other day and then they heard a POW come from inside the boat. I suppose he couldn't see any end to the problem and no way out. He left a couple young boys and a wife.

Lets hope not. Honestly, no one knows the full extent of the oil and what will happen in the future.

But what I have learned, though, is that mother nature has a way of healing herself when its most needed... Time will tell.

Ive had the pleasure of fishing against "Dr. Coon" this past summer in the Texas Tarpon Tomorrow tournament. Unbelievable guy that definatly has a connection with these tarpon. Sad to see his livelihood taken from him.
