The capper to a crazy-good weekend...

After the events of Friday night and Saturday afternoon, Saturday night was tame in comparison, but still awesome in its own right.

My dad and I went out to the same lake from Friday night, and I tried the Black Widow Poppin' Frog again. I couldn't get a hit at all even though my dad was getting several hits using his in the Natural Red color. He only hooked a couple of them up, but lost both of them in the slop on the way in, so unfortunately he didn't catch any fish for the night.

About 30 minutes before sunset, I took the frog off and tied on a black clacker buzzbait instead. Before I had made a dozen casts, I landed this nice 3lb 2oz, 16.5" LM.



Two casts later came another good hit and I eventually dragged this big boy to shore -- 5lb 2oz, 19.25".



Twenty-four hours ago I would have been freaking out over the size of this one and would have tied my PB with it. But after landing the two monsters described in the threads linked to above, I was relatively calm about landing this one that now "only" tied for my 3rd best all-time.

What a fantastic way to wrap up a fantasy weekend of fishing! The only real downer was that my dad never did catch a fish, but he is coming up to our lake place next weekend, so we can try again.
