Got bit by a new close cousin to the bait monkey - the wader monkey.
Got some chest wadders a good 'ol wally world today, they fit great, tried them on soon as I got home. Got 'em for 30 bucks, down from 40. Not the most expensive by any means, but however I only plan I using them when it's too cold to wet wade. So I'm not concerned with breathablity, and coolness. So I got hot rubbers ones. ![]() Hodgman brand, not sure how good they'll be, but they got a one year warranty, and I don't plan on using them year round, so I'm not to concern about long term durability. If they hold up early, and late this season, I'll be happy! ![]() Last edited by Bassboss; 02-28-11 at 10:13 AM. |

Congrats on your new waders. One question--How come it took you two years to realize that you need waders on this site?

Congrats, Sammy. However, I too am surprised you haven't needed waders before. Seriously. ![]()

You should be able to safely wade up there. I wouldn't have gotten in the water in Florida for anything! There's gators down there!

Enjoy those new waders. I kknow your going to find you will use them more than you think. Just be sure to get a good sturdy hanger for your waders. It will add to the life of your waders

You might want to look into getting a wader hanger that hold them by the boots and lets them hang upside down. Your shoulder straps will last much longer, and if any moisture gets inside the waders, which it will on occation, hanging them upside down will allow them to dry out better.

A couple other tips: If it's cold out, make sure you warm the waders up before trying to put them on... Rubber waders shrink in the cold. Learned that one the hard way by leaving them in the car overnight on a Steelhead trip. DOH! Obviously, never let water get over the top of your waders. Besides the obvious reason of then you'll be wet, this can get dangerous fast. It's extremely hard to swim with filled up waders. If you've never waded in a river before, be careful of the current and drop offs, rocks, limbs, etc. I can tell you, it's tense wading in the current when it's only a hand's width from the top of your waders. Get a walking stick thingy. They make them just for wading, but don't waste your money. And old ski pole will work just fine, or even an actual stick. It helps you to navigate under murky water and watch for rocks and drop offs. BB
