good bait casting reel?

okay so i am getting a st. croix premier 6'6" MH i was plan on using it for spinners and crank baits. so what is your idea of a good reel it needs to be left handed. i would like to keep it under 100 but my highest would be like 170 so yea. thanks a lot and if i can get it from bass pro shops even better

Personally, I think I would get a Lew's Tournament Speed Spool. I've heard nothing but good things about them, and it lands right in the middle of your budget at $140. It's got a Duel breaking system so you can really fine tune your casting. Read the reviews at tackle warehouse.

For the higher budget, I think I'd go with Revo SX. Great reviews across the board. It also keeps thing simple with a single magnetic breaking system. Sometime the duel breaks can get a little confusing for a beginner.

At the lower end, I think a BPS pro Qualifier would be your best bet. Duel breaks and similar internals to the REVO reels.

I think the 6:1 gear ratios would suit you best for all three reels.

I would look for a Citica 201E, they can be found at really low prices right now.

My vote goes to the Shimano Curado or on the lower end the Citica.

All the reels mentioned are very good, but I think there is one reel that for the money may be a little nicer. Tackle Warehouse has the Pflueger Patriarch 64WLP on sale for 109.00.

I found a source for the Pflueger Patriarch 64WLP for $100 BUT only in RIGHT HAND. I bought one a couple weeks ago ($119 that I thought was a deal) and there is little difference in the size of the reels, just slightly "wider" hence the WLP designation. Pflueger only makes one lefty model...the 71LPL.

Man, I just scored two revo sx's off of craigslist for $120(for both, & they are lefties), so my advice is to scan your local C.L. for some deals on reels.

wow, a person after my own heart!! That almost describes my baitcasters to a "T", Throw in a Pinnacle and a Pflueger and you've got my Baitcasters covered.

While I'm not a big Shimano fan, I think it would be tough to beat the Citica and Curado E series reels at the clearance prices they're going for.

The $150 +/- price point is loaded with quality reels. It's almost hard to go wrong. IMO magnetic brakes are simpler but centrifugal brakes are much more forgiving as far as backlash.

I personally own 10 of the WLP Pflueger President reels. This reel is available in Left hand configuration. 149.99 retail but you can pick them up on ebay for around 100.00 + or -.

They have served me well for the last few years with absolutely no issues.
