I have a question for anyone familiar with the hummingbird or lowrance side imaging systems. I was going to purchase one of their lower models….. I think the 798 series…..but it only had one sd card slot. My thinking was I wanted the unit to have two, that way I could run Hot Maps system on one and on the second card take pictures, video clips and store wave points. Is this possible? Also when you mark wave points are they stored on the card…… the one with the blank sd card. So can you label sd cards by lakes? That way whenever you go to the lake you just pop in your sd card for that lake.

You can do all of that and more, though there is no real reason to have different cards for different lakes. Even a card as small as 2GB can hold tons of waypoints. Your unit will know what lake you're on.

If the 798 only has one slot then it is the older originally version. The newest version (2 years old now) has two slots. Yes the points are automatically stored on the sd card.
You have to remove the mapping card and put in the second card to record if you get the old 798 but you should get it at a good discount. |

My 788 is the same, two slots, 1 for the maps and 1 for the SD card.
