boat trailer lights
Help. I am blowing a bulb on my boat trailer lights about every 3 trips. I have the WalMart submersible lights on my trailer. The connections are all shrink wrapped. I unhook the lights each time before backing trailer into water. I am getting tired of fooling with this and am looking for suggestions. I am thinking of just getting a more expensive set of lights and just redo the whole trailer lighting unless someone has any ideas.

One thing to try. Unplug your trailer wiring from the truck before you launch your boat. Bulbs get real hot, real fast and dunking them in cold water isn't good for incandescent longevity. Try just having the wires plugged in for going down the road.

I went through that stage and changed over to high and dry mounts on top of my side guideboards

syd's already unpluging lights.
I know nothing electrial but had a trolling moter that drained batteries intermittently, turned out to be a grounding challenge, turned out it looked right but the ground wasn't connecting properly due to paint or something. Lights
I had the same problem with my trailer an this is what I did to fix my problem. Make sure that the foam seal is not fold over on its self and yes check the ground even if it looks good at the connector replace it and put in a new screw all so use a star washer so that it gets down to clean steel also go and get some electical grease I recommend Truck-lite brand.

Its time to replace lights,use sealed,once they leak hard to find where and get them to reseal,cheaper just to replace rather than consume time.

i go with illmule got tired of replacing bulbs bought led light now no worries . like said make sure ground as has bare metal to make contact.
