Hey Guys,
I'm trying to locate sun shades for my 998 & 1198c si sonar units. Has anyone ever seen or heard of these commercially available? I might end up having to make my own. Have an idea in my head but if I could buy some nice ones reasonable then I can save my making time to fishing time......... Thanks .

Sunglare is a problem and I find they can be difficult to read when wearing polarized sunglasses also. I've seen some for the 5" units, but nothing for the larger units. You'd think there would be a market for them, so if you come up with a good design - you may have found a good sideline business.....................

I got the "DayView"one by NuShield for my 1197, and it works great. Just go to their "order by part number" screen.

Bryce, does that film correct issues with polarized sunglasses also? I think the OP was looking for a fabric shade that mounts to the unit with velcro and shades the unit on three sides, like the Glare Stomper. They are available for the small screens, and they fold down to protect the screen when not in use.
![]() ![]() Although I'm not sure that's such a great idea, it may get blown off running down the lake at 70 MPH. ![]() If the film helps with the polarized glasses I may have to get one. |

The DayVue film helps a lot, but nothing is perfect. It will help more than a 3-sided shield. You can't argue with physics.

I just got one for my 898 from raptor shield. Used it a few times and it makes a big difference.

Raptor Shield shade looks good but only has one to fit units up to the 900 series. Nothing I saw for the big units, like the 1100 series 'birds or the HDS10 Lowrance. Seems us big guys are always left out. We need a GPS Big & Tall Shop.

I was really wanting a hard shield. I like things that are semi permanent. If I want to run across the lake I don't want to have to take the shade on/off several times. Not crazy about velcro or soft shields.
I appreciate all of the input but alas as usual I will probably have to come up with my own idea. I just don't like the commercially available items.........Might take me a while to find the right materials but will update as soon as I have it figured out. Thanks to all. .
