Default RE: Deep Crankin

Went to one of my favorite local places this morning. Everything seemed just right. Blue moon, falling water temps, partly cloudy, moderate SW wind. Been there 3 times in the past 10 days and arrived with confidence that I'd find them in and around some mid-depth transitional brushpiles (10-15 ft) that I'd dropped 2 years ago and in which I'd found them in abundance each of the last 3 trips. After 3 hours of working those piles with every soft plastic and jig in the boat....nothing to show but a 1/2 dozen lil spankers. So I decided to switch gears, tied on a DT16 and went to work out in the creek channel. I caught 6 clones of the 2 pictured fish in less than hour. Every one of them was hunkered down in a little bend in the channel that runs right up next to the bank. The spot they were holding couldn't have been any bigger than an average living room. Textbook stuff and ton's of fun.

4.1 and 4.6
