Bullet weight question

Now they have colored nose bullet weights for texas rigging worms and lizards and creature baits.

Now we've all seen bass follow a hooked fish to the boat.
I'm lead to believe it's an instinctive reaction to seeing another fish feeding. Which I beleive.

So putting a couple of eyes on a weight that leads the texas rig should have the appearance of the lizard or whatever chasing 'food', right?

Good thought, bad thought, dumb thought or just a Joe thought?

I don't think a bass is gonna swim up to a worm without eyes on the weight and say "well it doesn't have eyes, so I'm not gonna eat it!"

And plus, when you think about it, the weight and twirling around the whole time anyway. So your eyes aint gonna stay where eyes would normally be anyway!

If bass instinctively competed with lizards for food, it might work. I don't think they do though.

This made me chuckle. But I think we can put this safely in the "Joe thought" category.

As a side note, people do this with the Alabama rig, catch one and just let that fish swim around and catch some of his buddies. I think the idea more is a school of fish sees one of their fish eat (not something random swimming by) and get all jealous and hungry.

You sure do have a lot of time to think about stuff, almost like you need to pick up a hobby or something .

I like to refer to it as, 'ALWAYS THINKING'.
And add obsession and addiction into the story.

Top it off with 'cabin fever' and open and closed seasons;

you get JOEDOG!

I know of a giant salamander over in Asia that would compete with bass for food, but safe to say, not here. Great ideas though Joe. Keep them comming pal!

Well, a lot of jig heads have eyes, so why not? I would think you need to peg the sinker to keep them in place, but I always peg anyway so that is not an issue for me.

joe, bass bite the sinker on c-rigs all the time. i have caught bass for eons on a jig with no paint on the head, just the skirt and trailer. it is just my opinion that paint, eyes, ect. catch way more fisherman than fish. i have always put much more faith in number one throwing it in front of a bass, and two, fishing at the right depth at the right speed. besides, it would be my luck, the eyes i put on would scare them off.

I don't think eyes actually make any difference - ALTHOUGH I only throw spinnerbaits with a minnow style head, WITH EYES! Most bass bites result from reaction, they are ingrained to strike prey in their proximity and really don't have brains large enough to think about if they are hungry enough to eat a worm or want to wait and try and find a crawfish or minnow. If a bass sees something drift or run by that looks like prey and they are hungry they hit it - if it doesn't tastes like a prey item they spit it out. How many time have you heard guys say they miss a bite because a fish spits it before they set the hook? Same thing if bass are protecting a nest or fry, they see a threat they bite it. If something looks (generally) like a prey item bass will probably hit it and the eyes don't matter.
