First off, I wanted to say howdy to all as I am new to this forum.
I've been saving my penny's for a while before purchasing a Helium LTA rod and a Daiwa Alphas reel. Light, sweet, but taxing on the pocket book. Went to the lower lagoon at Castaic on Sat. night at about 11:30 PM with my regular fishing buddy. Stopped at a length of "beach" for the first cast. With my new "Hawg Killer' in hand with a 4" Texas rigged craw, I proceeded to cast as far as *&#@ing possible. Splash down, feeding line as she went down. Reeled in the slack, jiggled the rig for a second or two then BAM!! I set the hook and felt the head shaking feeling we all crave like a heroin addict. After breaking the surface a few times and a few addaboys from my buddy, I reached down and lipped a 7.9lb LMB. After the digital scale and picture thing, I slid my new best friend into the water and watched it swim back into the blackness. Buying a new outfit is great, the experience I had is why I Bass fish in the first place, you never know what will happen every time you cast. Bass fishing is like sex, you don't have to be good at it to enjoy it. |
