Default Tips for Lake Barkley in early May

Hey all,

A family friend has given my wife and I use of their timeshare for a week, since they aren't able to use it this year. So, we looked at the timeshare company's website and decided on a condo located on Lake Barkley. We're going to be there from 4/30 - 5/6, so I should get plenty of opportunities to wet a line.

I can tell you that the condo itself is in Cadiz, KY. The website describes the property as:

Quote:
The resort encompasses three acres of shoreline along 62,000-acre Lake Barkley. Here, you can enjoy waterskiing, sailing, swimming, and fishing. Marinas are close by for equipment rental.
Here's a Google map of the place: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=e...65295&t=h&om=1

Anyway, so knowing absolutely nothing about the area, I thought I'd turn to the wisdom/experience of the folks here on these boards. My questions are:
  • Do any Lake Barkley experts here think I'll have a chance at some good bank fishing right there on the grounds of the resort? (map link above provides perspective)
  • Or should I just plan to try and rent a boat?
  • Any special tactics I should be trying at that time?

I admit, I'm a bit overwhelmed by the sheer size of the water...so any tips, suggestions, words of advice, etc., would be greatly appreciated and taken very kindly.

Thanks!
