Water or air temp? Air temp really doesn't matter-water temp is the key. This past week I fished 3 times, and the water temp ranged from 76-80 and the fish were in the shallows starting to head for deeper water as the water temp continues to rise. The air temp was over 90 alll three days and bothered me more than the fish.

We did. The biggest was 4 lbs 7 oz. and came on a Bandit 100 Series crankbait chartreuse with a black back. I think I caught 8 total on that. We were fishing a point-a piece of land that sticks out into the water-that had a LOT of wind blowing onto it that had a ot of flooded trees on it. The other two times we caught them on a variety of baits. A wacky rigged Tiki Stick:

in watermelon/chartreuse swirl and black/blue swirl, A weightless rigged baby bass/pearl laminate Yum Dinger :

very tight to the bank-the lake we were fishing unlike the first one has very little cover other than rocks and a few flooded trees so we fished tight to the bank and cover since that is where they were holding. We also picked up a few on Texas rigged worms, Storm Wildeye Shad swimbaits around floating docks, a few on chrome topwater baits and a couple on a new bait called a chatterbait on steep rocky points.

what bait to use? panfish.

seriously, next time you catch a small bluegill 2"-6" long, put a larger hook and bobber on the line, cast out, and wait for ole bucketmouth to swallow that bluegill.

next time you go to the store, buy some zoom trick worms in bubblegum or watermelonseed and some eagle claw lazer sharp 2/0 light wire hooks. rig the worms weightless or with a small split shot up the line about 18 inches, cast the bait out,let it settle, and slowly drag the bait in with alot of pauses in between pulls. the bite will probably be a taptaptap on the line or the line will start to move off to the side. hooksets are free, you will soon learn the differance between cover and bass.
