A n00bish question

Hi everyone, this is my first thread and post, so give me a ghey yay, or whatever other hellish welcome you usually do.

I joined this forum because I saw some attitude inna thread I found last week that seemed kinda smartass, so I knew I had to give this place a shot.

So anyway, I got divorced, and I'm allowed to fish again. The thing is, I just moved to a new area, and thankfully there are few cats and carp to be found in the area, yay, I can catch things without using live bait, sheew!

Okay, so we know I'm not a bait fisherman, and I seem to have recently become hooked on bass, hell yes! Oh, but the question eh?

Okay, *sigh*, the only fish I ever have caught besides mudsuckers is pike, with those I always used spinner bait, and I knew how to pick them up, but all I find here in this new area are bass. How do I hold them after I land them, and while I remove the hook?

hold them by the lower lip. Look at some of the pictures of some of the other's holding the bass go to the message boaed there is alot there.

put your thumb in just on the inside of the lower lip and put your index finger on the outside of the lower jaw..here is a pic..

Cool, this should make itta lot easier for me lol. I have been holding them with my hand tightly in their middle, and the size of some of these bass around here is unbeleivable, so that gets quite uncomfortable and I feel stupid too.

EDIT: If these are even smallmouth around here, I'm still new even though I have been fishing bass here since april, I still am learning how to identify fish.

You can also put them belly up in the palm of your hand if they are not large, that immediately puts them in stand-by mode and they don´t move at all.

lol remember send the entry money to pnj he is having an overstocked sale on bait monkeys. in fact mrs pnj told me to" load the truck full up and haul it ALL off " i assured her that i have plenty bait monkeys-one being 2 too many-
after the entry fee is recived just watch for these guys to show up and inate you..

welcome to the nut house.. when it come to being a wisea$$ i can go pro..

Yup. when you hook them by the lip it basically paralyzes them.
