that some genius had the dnr come in and spray the massive lilly pad feild in upper newsome creek on tuckertown lake.. it is the ONLY lilly pads on any of the yadkin lakes chain-all 6 of them-i went up in there this morning to see what there was.. i notice that the hydrilla is filling in most of the flats the creek channel is still clear -for now-i caught 1 short bass of the old lazy boy and had one on- he got off- caught out of the old kitchen stove. both on frogs..

i was very pleased with the lilly pads regenerating in the very upper end-at the creek split- i hope they continue to spread down stream in the next few years..

maximum depth where i was sitting in the creek channel is 2-3 feet troller all the way up,big moter above water..it aint easy getting back in there with a bass boat..

I would love to fish in Florida..even if its just once. In KY, the waters are all pretty much the same. Low amount of vegetation, moderately clear water(most places), lots of rock, lots of ledges and cliffs, way too much pleasure traffic....so on and so on. I'd love to fish a grass lake(I seem to do best around these kinds of areas), and I really suck around the rocks and big structure.

I like fishing that stuff too, but recently found out how to cacth fish in the open(sometimes), there is only one lake here with hydrilla, and it is way overfished.

How do you catch fish in the open, i only get to fish Lake Anna, and these three ponds, which I am unbeatabul at. But i can never catch fish out of Lake Anna

Lake anna, well there are different ways, my sisters in laws, catch nice fish out of anna, the boated a 22.5 last weekend. I would try some of the coves that have stumps, and flip crawdad colored jigs, with crawdad trailer, or a crawdad soft plastic. I am also going to go out on lake anna with my friends dad, who fishes tourneys there, and I'll tell you what he tells me. I would not fish the main lake, find pointsand coves. I'll see what else I can dig up about it.

Thanks, Were always are in coves, mainly because we have a pontoon boat, we find a spot and sit there all day, THANKS MOM .POONTON BOATS SUCK, I HATE THEM. Any advive will help and be greatly appreciated because im tired of going to lake anna and not catching a thing.

Yep, anything that resembles a crawdad, near the stumps, jigs in the heavy cover, rapala crankbaits off of points, look for dropoffs, and use soft plastincs or rapalas near them

You're welcome in my little boat anytime. However it's not as easy as some think. If you have soilid miles of vegetation, where do you fish? You still have to find the little differences, humps, wood, dropoffs, rocks(the only rocks we have are manmade LOL), water movement. Everything looks great, but the fish aren't everywhere. It actually can be intimdating, and I don't know how many times I made this statement, " Man look at this great cover, there just has to be bass here", and didn't get a single bite.

lol, I'd honestly welcome the change...if you want vegetation here, gotta go to a pond. I guess with solid miles of vegetation, the fun challenge would be looking for those different spots that might make a fish like it more...the points, the cut-ins, then all the typical cover fishing clues. I know if I could go down there and pull out a 10+(hard to find here, too!) I wouldn't mind it all too bad..those gators might skeer me a bit, though.

Lizards, believe it or not, I have the same problem on a lake here, and I know how much it sucks, for the whole lake to have a ton of cover. There is so much cover, that I can't figure out which to fish, the stumps, the coves, the grass, the laydowns etyc.

i can solve that problem by catching a single fish.. go into a cove with all that struture. and fish it all the area that you catch 1 or more bass. is the struture ya want to fish on the entire lake.. most of these lakes round here have 4 major types of struture rock piles,points,docks,laydowns.. odds are one of them 4 will hold fish at any givin time..

Onl place I have ever seen lily pads was a small patch up at Lake Vanare, near Lake George. And back then i was to dumb to know how to fish it.

Rider, on the warmer end, soft plastics like flukes, in warmer weather, and crankbaits in colder weather. As for colors, black, pearl, arkansas shad, red hsad, and baby bass. The fish always stay active, so a spinnerbait, or chatterbait will get bites. Use a chart/white, with a split tail trailer on both, the split tail trailer should have orange ends. Like I said crawdad lures, fished deep but slow, near stumps, on the cold end. I will find out more about the cold end tomorrow. Powerfish until you find the bass, then use what I suggested.
