Surfing the net a while back I stumbled on this site for making lure covers. Cheap, easy to make, and most importantly, they work!
http://www.bassproradio.com/Articles/Covers.html Keeps the hooks from getting tangled, and you can write on the outside what they are covering-topwater, lipless, shallow, deep-you get the idea. Take it off the rod, stick it in your pocket, and fish away. No more tangles and no hunting around for the lure cover when you are done.

pretty simple instructions
The bottom illustration shows you all you need to know about how to make it Cut a 7 inch diameter circle out of fabric...take a 3 inch piece of the bristly side of a velcro strip and lay it from the edge of the circle towards the center(it won't actually go all the way to center) Cut a 5 inch strip of the soft side of velcro strip and leave an inch between the inner edge of the bristly side and the edge of the soft side when attaching the two pieces. Then, fold it around your rod and lure and attach the rest of the soft side to the rest of the bristly side, and you're done. |

You know how many rods I have... it would cost like a 80-100 bucks to buy covers for every rod... I wish but $80-100 that is a new rod and just another cover to buy! LOL!
