well if i get one baitcaster thats i left handed crank and one that is right handed crank i can fish two at once, you hold the right handed crank in your left hand the and left handed crank in your right hand..... then you just use your fingers to go all the way to the other side and spin the handle, thats how you fish one handed, haha.... might be hard to understand but ill show you sometime, haha

Let me know when you are ready to take the relaxing west coast vacation. You know a place where the 5 pounders are the small guys.

I usually take 5 with me, 4 baitcasting, one spinning. Baitcaster are: 7' MH with 30 lbs braid for frogs and brush fishing. 6'6" MH with 12 lbs mono for cranks. 6'6" MH with 17 lbs mono for spinners/worms. 6' MH with 17 lbs mono for topwaters. Spinning rod is 7' M with 12 lbs mono for lighter finesse lures. My next purchase will probably be a 7' M action with 10-12 lbs mono, dedicated for cranks. That'll leave one rod with nothing to do...wonder what I should do with it....

It was more a falsification than bragging. I don't care where you are, a 5 lbs fish is darn good.

Oh, I agree with you on that. It's always nice to catch a 5 lb'er. (I'm so danged happy I no longer have to add "or so I hear" to the end of that anymore )

1 thing you will find when you get past 6 total rods or so is you start ending up with rods with nothing to do. Of course there is always a way to find a place for a rod.
Hey Bama, you know that cherrywood rod you gave me? Its now a spinning rod. The greatest dropshot fisherman of all time used it just the other day to wrestle a mammoth bass out of the milfoil on it. Thanks again. Now there comes a time and a day when you realize that every rod you own sucks. They are all too heavy. They all use obsolete technology. That is the day credit card companies go from red to black, that is the day sweatshop workers in indonesia are allowed extra reproccessed gruel, that is the day the woman leaves you....but the day will come. It could be Kistler, Loomis, Croix, Lamiglass or Custom, but when you run out of a need to quantity that desire for quality somehow always arrives.

I'll bring 9-12 with me on my boat. I'll normally use 7-10 during the day and normally catch fish on 6 or more. That's pre-fishing or first day of a two day tournament. Once I get locked in/on the number drops to 3 or 4 that I use but I'll still have the others in the locker in case I need to adjust to different conditions. Which happens all most every two day tournament.

wtl, you are welcome for the rod pal. glad to know you found a good use for it. the greatest fisherman of all time needs nothing for real, but to be able to give him something and he actually finds a use for it makes this old man so proud that he is beaming with pride. i am so humbled, LMAO.
for real though, really glad you get a good use for it. i like the cherrywood rods.

But I feel the need to crrect you. I am not the greatest fisherman of all time. That would be Jesus. #2 is Bill Dance. I was number #3 on a recent list however. But I am the greatest drop shot fisherman of all time, that has been said about me before, by me. Here is more proof. My second DS bass, it was quite a monster. I get stronger and stronger with each cast. I emailed the picture to the Alabama department of conservation, asking for an estimated size. They said they guessed .6 pounds. I'm sure the placement of the period was a type-o though. Its quite easy to move the decimal over and turn a 60 into a .6

In my boat, there are always 16 rod and reels. At any given time there are probably 5-6 on my deck. When I fish the back of someone else's rig I normally carry 5 or 6 (and find myself wishing I had my boat so that I can quickly grab a rod I have rigged for a specific situation). Truthfully speaking though, I would have to say that I can normally "get by" with 5 or 6, maybe 4 if I really had to.

I usually have 9 rods on my boat with me, 5 baitcasters with heavy line except one, 3 spinning rods with light line, and an ultralight. I don't like changing baits alot while on water unless I have to. If I am on someone elses boat I only bring 4-5. Also, I only let passangers bring 4-5 except for the regular fishing partner which we have fished enough together and know how to maintain space, he usually brings 6-9 as well. We usually have anywhere from 15-18 rods and 4-5 tackle boxes on my 17.5ft boat and we organize it enought to where if we need to, we can work a fish up and down the boat without moving anything.
