We used to do this I think in 07, if yall want to search and see how we did it then....
The % of the state record is worth a try. I dont think there can be a system that is totally fair. For instance, the people in Georgia (22-4) and Mississippi(18 something) might have a little tougher road because their state records were perhaps unusually larger than the size bass those states normally produce. Regarding the honesty policy, it works pretty well. Before, we did have a case of a youngun trying to pass a bass off as bigger than it really was, and I took the time to examine the pictures and did the calculations and showed that he was embellishing the fish (similar to what the IFGA does with pictures) |

I think a "standard picture" would be in order here. Like laying some commonplace item of known dimensions, and not easily reproduced in miniature or photoshopped, on the bass' side for the picture.
Any suggestions? I'd start with a U.S. quarter.

No way will I participate. Not after I won 2 for 2 contest for the biggest fish in row with catfish forum that assumed me cheating. Whoever wins will be attacked or backstabbed. Envy is not pretty. Lesson learned.

Just kidding Bama, I've never heard a striper called that, thanks! Convict because the stripes are like a prison striped jumpsuit? That makes sense. |

The biggest "stripper" will certainly not win you any prizes.

It needs to be a ruler in inches instead of a quarter. And the fish should be laying on something with the ruler laying there too so we know the ruler and the fish are at the same depth from the camera, imo.
A few years back we also required the drivers license or other id to be laying there so we knew it wasnt a picture off of google. |

I'm down like a clown. But let's not get too technical. A man is only as good as his word. Repercussions catch up two fold to those who bend, just remember that.

I'm in. Largemouth and Smallmouth. Seems like cash money would be easiest. Less shipping charges and the winner can nab a reel or somethin he's had his eye on.
Are we gonna sticky this thread, or another one for the contest? That would be one popular thread.

Sounds cool! One problem though, what if someone does not have a camera, how are they suppose to verify the catch?

Better bring it to the weigh-in. You can get a disposable digital camera for like 10 bucks. Just to keep it on the up and up, as well as possible bad blood, this really needs to have photographic proof

Gentlemen, Need I remind you that I was the Northeast Champion when BB held the Braggin Rights Tourney two seasons ago? (pause here to pat myself on the back!)
I'd be in for LM! we just took length and girth pictures, hard to do when alone, and trusted each other.. It worked fine.

I'm on board with the % vs. state record idea. I think it adds an element of fairness, plus gives you something to shoot for and compare your catch to. You would also have to indicate what state you were fishing in, say someone got to take a trip to a big bass state. It would be easier to take a weight and a picture than it would be too get measurements solo.

We also said as I recall that if you take a sheet of paper, write your name in it, and also bassfishin.com on it with like the date, that could be identification. |
