Your charger is fine. You will just have to charge one, then the other. It is nice having a dual bank charger tho, just plug it in and forget about it....

they are two different things. There are on-board chargers that you plug in from a socket and charge them, but they also have solar power panels that you can place on your baot and connect to the batteries and the sun charges them.

this thread is about a ''Solar Panel'' and you said how does it generate power. I guess i misunderstood because i thought you were asking about a solar panel because of the thread name.
the on board charger is not solar powered but i dont see why it couldnt be rigged up to, but i dont think you asking that either. the on board charger gets plugged into an extension cord plugged into the wall socket and the charger is already hooked to the batteries and when u plug it up, it cgarges the batteries, instead of having a portable charger and having to seperately hook up each battery you just plug the on board charger in, alot easier unless you have a single battery then you could just use a portable imo

oh. well it sounds like a waste of money, i thought they were a battery tender that generated power somehow.. i'll just use the battery charger in the shop

no not a waste of money at all. already attached to battery just plug it in. easy and carefree no clipping or screwing or clamping to a battery. just plug it in and your good to go. not something you have to have but definetely not a waste of money when you either have to buy a reg charger or on board.

On the subject, does anybody have experience with any of the solar chargers? I've heard of guys down south running them when it's hot and you are running two livewell pumps all day on top of everything else just to help the cranking battery. If you are using one what wattage is it and does it work?

nope we use a "bridge" alot more than the solar chargers..the bridge is a device that crosses the alt out put on your outboard to the troller battery..in laymans terms as long as the big moter is running the troller battery is charging..
