And you know if I take Embrey's logic into consideration. If say I was fishing a tournament and was at my spot. Which was a small creek mouth room enough for 1 boat, i.e. me. Does that give a recreational boater the right to pull up right on top of me and start fishing the same side of the creek mouth as me, just because I'm a tournament fisherman?

Well you certainly aren't taking both sides of the problem into consideration. You see tournament anglers as whole, as being the problem, as opposed to it being a percentage of that group. I was simply taking that and turning into a tournament anglers perspective. Dispite what you may think, tournament anglers, generally are pretty respectful. You don't see tournament angler's lobbying to ban recreational boating during a tournament day, though it may help things a bit.

Guys....why is this turning into an Embry roast?
I don't know him, so I have no reason to defend him other than plain sense. I didn't hear him say he wanted to ban tournaments. I just heard him say it wouldn't bother him if they did. Certainly no reason to crown him Read-Headed Stepchild A$$hole of the Week.

Living in a "tourist" area with a ton of water to boat/fish on, I've encountered rude behavior from tournament and recreational fishermen, cruising boaters and jet skiers, pontoon boats and water skiers and even large 40' plus yachts. I've also met/encountered many of these same "classes" who have been extemely courteous and friendly. Sterotyping tournament fishermen as being rude and obnoxious is no different than sterotyping any other group as always behaving a particular way.
As for the original post....bassfisher I think you did the right thing IMHO....and I'd like to think I would have done the same. |
