I am fine either way and respect any decision made. If I doubted the integrity of any of the people here, I never would have mentioned it. I figured a couple more might try to jump on and include kids or spouses to help beef up the pool and make it a year to remember. I will give it a couple of days and let Doc J, 1/8 Limb, and other participants make their final decision on it.

I think the 3/1 start date has been settled. There's pros and cons to everything. Consider that when those guys up north are smack dab in the middle of their fall feeding frenzy, with huge fish moving up shallow and blindly busting shad back in the creeks, frantically trying to put on some winter fat......we'll still be stuck in those thick/sick 80 deg water summer doldrums begging for a cool breeze and an RC cola

Sounds good. Pam and the Boys are in. That gets us closer to our goal.

I think the winning weight last year was 70-something percent? Does that sound right? I remember seeing a couple that were well over the 50% mark. John, your state record is 16-something pounds. If this year goes similarly, you'd better bring a 9-10 pound fish to even be competitive. If I decide to play (which I'm still debating on), I'm looking at an 18 pound, 2 oz record, so for me, 11 pounds or so would be a good start.....

Idea
You contest rule keepers should post a chart similar to the Small Mouth one I posted so in the middle of the year there is no confusion on what the record weight is in that State.
If someone disagrees it can be solved before start date. And , You may want to address those of us who will be fishing in more than one State.

I'm completely fine with family members under the same roof joining in. I wouldn't be in favor of friends or cousins, uncles, ect who are not members participating. Nor would I approve of someone joining the forums just to join in the contest. We might never hear from them afterwards. The rules and dates all sound good to me. I would like to second Jrobs feelings about photos of your entry. If alone, a photo of the scale reading with at least some of the fish, plus a photo of it on a length measuring device of some kind sounds fine with me. I have a vinyl stick on measuring tape stuck to the center seat of my john which I could easily lay the bass on and take a photo. I plan to get my payment out next week after I get paid.
John and I both had the same question to which I dont see any reply. Neither one of us has a Paypal account. Can we mail you checks for the entry payment?

I do fish up in NC a few times a year since it's just a drIver and a 2 iron up the road, no advantage for the contest though since it's within ounces of SC @16 and change.

Sometimes after we've been fishing for 3-4 hrs and long after the count is fuzzy in my head, she'll blurt out "well it's 17 to 12 do you want me to take a snack break and rest for a few while you try to catch up or are you just gonna concede a whipping today?"

Just to add fuel to the fire...I will be offering the entire line of Phenix blanks and their rod components along with select Matagi Japanese components.
(Once I figure out how to read my parts catalog) Hell I may enter to try and win my own rod. More to come!

Yup, I'm fine with everything said so far!
BTW Joe, did a little looking into for about what you said about water's open all read round. The lake I fish the most is about 10 miles away from the cut off point for the continues season. But the wolf river offers some mighty fine smallmouthing! So I'll be going for the smallmouth portion of the contest will may comes around!
