I don't think you should use it to sling frogs in the pads. jk I have a 6' that I use for spinnerbaits around shoreline cover.

It wasn't that long ago when a 5'6" rod was standard and a 6 foot rod was considered "long."
Then about ten years ago in shrunk to average and now it's called "short." I don't want to start a fight with the longer-is-better crowd, so let's just say that your rod is suitable for any bait that falls within it's weight limits. You should fined that your casts are more accurate with the shorter rod. The reel, which is geared like a winch, is best for big baits that block a lot of water, like deep divers, than it is for burning something across the surface. Personally, I would rather have to overcome the slow reel by cranking faster, than fight the disadvantage of trying to haul a heavy bait with a high-speed reel. Garry2R's Garry2R's |
