Allergies are no joke...I never had them till about 4 years ago-ish...At first, I thought it was AIDS or Diarrhea..But then realized it was much, much worse...Ive taken Claritin,Tylenol Sinus, Mucinex,Benadryl ,etc....There was never a real cure....Claritin seemed to work ok for me...I just hate taking them because they dehydrate me really bad....Im currently going through an allergy attack...So far, only time is helping.

2 days ago, i volunteered at a spay/neuter cat clinic. By the time it was done with, my sinuses were killing me! I think it was due to all the dust and hair, I don't think I actually developed an allergy, although it's possible.
I just took a couple sinus pills 1/2 hour ago, and I'm 75% better already. Don't know te brand name since the foil tabs are out of the box but the ingredients are: Acetaminophen-325 mg Chlorphenramine Maleate-2 mg Phenylephrine HCI-5mg They're yellow tablets so I'm guessing they're the cheap Top Care brand

Haha jrob...
I tried zrytec today, cause the benadryl just made me drowsy mostly, and zyrtec helped a decent amount. I still have a runny nose but I dont feel too bad, made it out to a little lake in a agricultural type area and fished a little and all in all I'm better than normal. As long as I can take a pill and salvage days where I didnt feel like doing anything, its a big plus for me. |

Yea the Claritin makes my throat dry too, I still take it though even though I'm pretty sure I drink about 6 gallons of water a day.

I have been on Nasonex for years, twelve months out of the year. When the allergy season down here really kicks in I take it both Morning and evening. "knock on wood" it seems to help me control the allergies better.

Mucinex is good for chest and nasal congestion. It doesn't treat allergy symptoms, however, if allergies progress to a sinus or chest infection it is great stuff.

No, not at all as far as I can tell. But perhaps my ability to tell for sure is a little impinged by the fact that feeling like crap makes me want to sleep, so that when I do feel better (cause of the zrytec) it comparatively feels like I have more energy.

I really avoid drugs like that..in fact I have never taken them..
But in the spring I get really bad allergy's as well. The only thing thats has worked for me is honey.. local raised honey. A teaspoon each day builds up my imunity. I like the Arizona tea with honey in it.. I drink one every morning before being outdoors on a pollen filled spring day.. Capt Mike

Mike, thats a darn good idea. Never thought about that. I'm not sure if I am reacting to pollen or grass or trees, but its always early spring. And normally I build an immunity as well, I tend to get dog sick for about a week then I'm alright. Maybe the honey will help build up a little of that same immunity.

At first sign of spring I start each morning with a teaspoon of honey.. It feels like you are poisining yourself for the first day or so.. But as the week wears on it does not bother you. Nasel constrictors like caffine will make you feel better till they wear off and you get those nasty sinus headaches. So keep it down to a single cup or keep pumping in the coffee or tea in my case till you crash. Capt Mike

I get mild allergies from crap in the air which I ignore. However I have a kinda serious reaction when I get spiked by bass. My hands swell up and become stiff. Does anyone else have this happen?

A lot of us must be fishing from the same Boat..LOL...My Allergies always are worse in at the end January and thru February. I've taken all the anti-histamines...Benadryl, chlorpheniramine maleate, Zrytec, Singular, Claritin, shots. Benadryl still works the best but I take it at night. Singular works good and is now available over the counter in some places.
What worked the best though was when I use to run 30 to 35 miles a week...Can't do that now with an artifical knee... I wish you well and take something and Go Fishing... |

Definately 2nd or 3rd the Zyrtec. I also will use Afrin spray when it gets really bad. But I love the Zyrtec.
