The only time I eat bass is when im camping. Then it's a matter of food and nourishment. Nothing like throwing a bass or crappie in the fry pan with some butter and grabbing a cold beer.

I like to believe the bass and I have a mutual respect. I might ruin its day, but not its life.

Yes & No!!! Public lakes i let most go. The acception to that rule. Is a Bass that may die if it's to badly damaged. The fish that won't survive if you let it go. That is if it's a also a keeper under the law. But 99.9 of these fish i do release. I do fish a private lake that is badly over populated with bass. This lake the crappie are bigger than the bass. I keep every one i catch. That'z the rules so i follow them. We don't talk about that. There are lakes & ponds in this country. That thinning heard is needed. These lakes have so many bass that sometimes that starve themselves to death. Usually because there is not enough bait fish to go around. If you have a fish that's going to die & it's legal size keep it. I think that is very respectful. It's better to put the dieing fish in the skillet. Then letting it rot in the lake.

That rule even goes for stripes for me. Because a monster Stripe will get bigger than any black bass.

I personally will not eat Largemouths because well i love them to much.
I will however give some away to neighbors out of my pond to thin the crop.

NO. Not near as good as crappie, catfish (from clean water) or white bass.

I'll eat bass every so often, most of them time I will not though. I'll keep 17% of the bass I catch in a year.

I never keep them when fishing by myself, but every once in a while I'll have a buddy that comes with me and wants to keep some and while I'm not always real fond of the Idea, I let them keep some if they want to.
I never let them keep anything over 2.5 lbs. I tell you what, they do taste very good if fried right, no better than crappie or speckled trout though. If I'm hungry for fish, I normally try to find somthing else to keep. |
