WD40 isn't a petroleum base product, it's mostly silicone. As many of the scents you buy are also.
Though the can says "contains petroleum distillates."

For one here in Missouri!!! I don't care what it's made from. You get caught using it they'll ticket yeahh. Why i don't know why. It's very carefully written into a 296 page book of missouri game code. I read it every year. I do'nt agree with all of it. But it's the law & i abide by that. That's enough for me. I know it works. I have scene it used ilegally down at taneycomo. The ol boy was spraying it on powerbait. everybody else was using the same bait. But them trout favored his more than ours. Like 3 to 1 more.

wow I never imagined it was illegal, even tho I can see the rainbow oil slick everytime the worm gets dunked in the drink...thanks for the info

I just read on another forum where its illegal in colorado and utah also..I guess the hillbillys here in ohio should be glad they dont live in those states LOL

Thumbs up What scents work best?

I like the Carolina Lunker Sauce in garlic for all my soft plastics and crawfish on my jigs. "BANG" also makes a good line of scents in a spray. Bigbub
