Hell, thats not even the funny part.

Like I said this was the ghetto and I was one of the few minorities - for the ghetto - living there.

Up until that point everyone in the 'hood had kinda treated me funny, maybe messed with me some.

But after I shot a coon, they learned not to fool with me.

ok, here's the house cat/ pole cat story.

as a kid, my older sister always had cats. i am the third of 4 children, one older sister, older brother, me, and younger sister.
anyway, she had this cat, a tom cat, that ws as we thought retarded. walked sideways sorta. (think i told this at the first get together) well, we were all asleep one night during the summer.
all of a sudden we heard this howlng and hissing, really loud as all get out.
we though that a bob cat was mating with one of our female cats. it happpened alot out in the woods in our area. but this was right next to the house, unusual.one got up and ol pop turned on the spotlights to the rear of the house.
there they were, a skunk fighting the retarted tom cat. we watched them for 45minutes. the skunk would back up about 15 feet. run towards the cat, flip head over heels and spray the cat dead in his face. the cat would back up wiping his face growling and hissing. then attack the skunk again. over and over they would do this till the skunk ran outta spray. 45 minutes we watched this. after the skunk ran out of spray, he dashed for the holler. tom cat gave chase. fight over, cat wins, lmao.
next morning we all though the cat was gonna smell like a sewer (other thread i posted pun). but to our amazement, he DID NOT SMELL AT ALL. after getting hit dead in the face at least 5 times that we saw. no smell. yes the cat was now a hero to the family. no longer did a skunk get in the garbage can while he lived. and before he came, we had skunks in cans alot. funniest thing i ever watched. them fighting. and the there was the mama cat that drove off the fox....later. i will tell you that one too.

I just see coons all over my back yard area (public back yard for a townhouse development, followed by some woods and a pond, just gotta wait for the snow to melt ). My dog likes to chase them, but i dont get to shoot them or anything.

Last spring our toy chihuahua started raisin cane on the backporch one afternoon, so I went out to see what his problem was and found a huge coon just a few feet away from the porch lookin at my little dog......He was so big it took me a couple seconds to realize it was a coon and not a large dog.....but one thing was fer certain....he'd been in a bad fight....dunno if he won or lost but he was bloody from head to tail.....once he saw me he just slowly turned and took his sweet time walkin away......poor guy looked rough.

I remember a time when I was little and dad brought home a possum in a cardboard box one nite after work......he was an auto mechanic and had found the possum tucked inside the wheel well of a car he had been workin on.....he fished it out without any trouble, and for Lord only knows what reason, decided to bring it home and show the family.....We start askin what he has in the box as he comes thru the door, but he didn't say anything. He just sat the box on the living room floor, gave mom a grin, and started to open it when out jumps a scared or mad possum......hahahaha.....my mom and sister are now standing on top of tallest piece of furniture next the them and are screamin bloody murder.....I didn't know for sure what it was, and seein that mouth open full of sharp teeth, I too climbed up onto the back of the sofa I was sittin on, and began to watch....actually it was more laugh, at dad chasin this crazy mad toothy critter around the living room knockin over stuff right and left......seems like it lasted for 5 minutes but in reality it probably only lasted a minute or so before dad got it pinned and grabbed it by the tail and started to return it to the box, but he quickly realized the possum wasn't gonna allow that again, so he quickly tossed it out the front door.....lol....I thought mom was gonna kill him.....moments later he started laughing and eventually we all had a good laugh once mom calmed down...lol.

My last story happened while sittin around the campfire, drinkin beer with my two best fishin buddies at the time, when one of them spots an armadillo chasin bugs just at the edge of the light from the fire....."come on, lets catch it" he hollars....and off we go....3 half drunk guys chasin an armadillo around camp in the dark while the girl friends are razzin us cause this thing is waaaay faster than we are....lol. Thats bout when Keith says he's run it into a drain pipe that runs under the road, so I go to the other end of the pipe in an effort to spook it back towards Keith.....just as we both squat down to look into the pipe.....before makin our next move, whatever that was gonna be...lol...Keith jumps about 9 ft straight backwards as he yells "SKUNK"......it was like watchin cartoons.....his ball cap remained hanging in the air momentarily as he backed right out from under it.....lol....and YEP....out comes a skunk just a sprayin.....hahahaha....none of us got sprayed directly but it was a dead calm nite and all that stench lingered in the campground for hours and on the tents and stuff for a bit longer......the women cused us the rest of the weekend.....lol....can't imagine why?....LOL.....thats probably why I don't drink much anymore.
