Also, to help with feeling the hits, I touch the line with the index finger of the hand I'm holding the reel with. That way, it might not matter quite so much how sensitive the rod is.

Thanks for the Suggestion Mississippiboy.. ive been trying to get into the habit of doing that.
i also went & got some 1/4oz weights instead of the 3/16th's i was using,I like the 1/4 oz so much more. able to feel the bottom a whole lot better when moving the bait as needed and it seems like my bait is staying in position better as well when twitching whatever plastic im using |

![]() If I ever learned anything in fishing, it is that our hands are far more sensitive than the most senstive rods out there.

Did you know that the human sense of touch is so sensitive, it can feel a bump of 1/10,000 of an inch? If you ever see guys doing car body work, and rubbing their hands on a fender, and not even looking at it, that's why.

That is amazing, and not that you've given a tangible figure, perhaps we shouldn't be surprised, because God must have known what he was doing.
When I fished with just a line and hook and bait and a piece of lead, I was simply blown away at the sensitivity and feedback my hands were giving me. You could even feel the little waves going through the line, something you will not feel with a rod in your hand.

thanks Joel..yep fishing got shut down again today with another cold front rolling through b4 the rain started. been ZERO consistency with weather this season.. started the day w/ weather about 81 deg. then by the time i drove to another lake clouds rolled in and dropped about 10 deg in a matter of my 15 minute drive, im about ready to throw in the towel for this season cause this is a every other day occurrence..when i can afford it i am leaving the midwest, i absolutely hate it here.. Destination > SAN DIEGO!!!!!

Its the end of the world, I tell ya.
I, WTL, just tied a drop shot rig on my spinning outfit. Watched Kev's video last night. Have done some research. Gonna give it a (drop) shot! Hehehe

Next thing you know, we'll have cats and dogs playing together, Jews and Arabs getting along, chocolate and peanut butter in the same candy...total pandemonium.

For what its worth, I just got back from the lake and while my trip was far from that great, I did get my first bass on a drop shot rig. All 1/2 pounds of him.

It seems to share in my frame of view a commonality with the split shot rig, the difference being you are sure to get you bait up higher in the water column where the bass are suspending, you wont lose lure and weight should the weight get hung up and you have a more direct line to the lure.
I have thrown the split shot for many years now, and often on heavy tackle with big line and regular sized baits.
