NO, it's not OK. If you do not want to repeat as host - don't do such a good job the first time!

Well, if we do decide to have the Event at Dale again, I've already pointed out a possible new place for lodging and a marina. So with that being said, it will be left up to new Host to make any final decisions. So, in the mean time I am just gonna sit back and watch and see how this thing unfolds. I'm sure I will post a suggestion or two when the question arises, but as far as taking the lead as a host... I'm leaving that for someone else this time. -Mark |

Does the DH Marina have rentals available? Like Jon Boats?
Be waaaaay too expensive to haul mine down in the truck. Cheaper to drive the car and rent somethin

Mike, they do mention having little 14 foot fishing boats available to rent. But I betcha there will be room in somebody's boat for you, so you won't have to rent one.

The thing about Pickwick is, where? What lodge? There might be some lodges in Mississippi or Tennessee, but not much in Alabama - theres Florence, with a bunch of hotels. When we had our Wheeler get together and it was tough, I started lobbying for people to trailer to pickwick, I picked up a few more bass there...but, its going to be hard to get to from the north because either you take I65 which makes a dog leg, or you wind through tennessee and that is really slow from clarksville straight south, as I found when I went up to Kentucky lake.
Its a great lake, but its hard to envision it coming off. I would say Guntersville before Pickwick. Again, its not a quality of lake thing, but there is a certain type of accommodation that you guys normally seek for this event.

Here's an option for a place to stay on Pickwick. Just throwing this out there.
http://mdwfp.com/parks-destinations/...p-coleman.aspx The fact that Pickwick is a mere 4 hours from my house will in no way bias me.

The fact it's about 2 hours past Wheeler making it about 17 -18 hours (915 miles) for me, makes up my mind about Pickwick already.

No, I've never stayed there. The word online is it's decent, nothing to write home about. I'm thinking something like the cabins we rented at Wheeler, maybe a little better/newer. There's a hotel, too, with plenty of rooms, as well as 3 bigger townhouses.
On BBC, they have a "rally" there every year, and they seem pleased with it.

I'll make the same offer to you as you did to me. Ship me your rods and fly into Jackson or Memphis, I'll pick you up.

No idea if I'm gonna make it. I think 4 hours max and nice accommodations are gonna be my limits this year.

There goes the Impala, the boat, the truck - I can't wait to see Bryce in his new Prius - save that gas money. When are you putting your rods & reels up for sale? I may put an offer in on a couple. I think he's down for the count, I think he's already seen the stars and soon will be hearing THE BELLS... OK, I'm done bustin' on you! I am happy for you and I certainly EXPECT an invitation... whenever, wherever I wanna be there! Last edited by bassboogieman; 09-18-13 at 04:21 PM. |

No, I just figured that the possibility of John being the one you'd have to ride a few hours with would "take the shine" off of Pickwick a little.
