"Bass Count 2009: 42,921., Biggest Bass '09: 26 lbs (foul hooked - IFGA wont count it)"
If I caught on average, fishing 365 days a year, 117 fish per day, and one at 26 lbs, I'd be a happy camper indeed.

Well, This may be one of the times that typing fast has it's advantages and disadvantages. I emailed the author (and probably looked like a jerk) BUT this was his response:
We ran a correction to this story some time ago, shortly after the piece came out back in June. Based on information I received at the time from McShan, his mother and a witness, I assumed the information was correct. I figured three sources, including an adult, would be sufficient. I was not there for the picture so I didn't know or see the size of the fish. The interview was done over the phone. Now, I know that the weight is highly unlikely and doubtful from information I received from the state. We actually originally ran this story in our kids section because we weren't sure of all the facts. It didn't run in our main sports page. All apologies to the dedicated anglers out there. It was not meant to undermine the sport, but rather celebrate a kid who was actually interested in the sport brent |
