we really are wanting to come. the main problem we are facing is my tournament schedule, my job (not sure how much vacation i will have to burn for tournaments), and britney finally put her college degree to use by getting a really good job a month or so back and not sure when she gets vacation. but we still are hopefull that we will be able to work it out.

Does anyone have an address for the campground (maybe a ranger station or something) so I can plug this into mapquest?

That's not required, weezy. Sure, it would help, but hopefully enough people will have their boats so even BBT (boatless bank trash) will have a spot on somebody's boat. We'll get a good headcount as the time grows closer and make sure it's doable.
But don't let the fact that you don't have a boat stop you from coming. Ain't that right, BB? |

mississippiboy is right on this weezy. plan on attending anyway. i am SURE that there will be room for you in a boat there. that is what (partly) this is all about. and don't forget to bring you loved ones to this too. we'll eat some bass (if we catch enough, hehehe), tell some tales, and have a great time.

Something also to keep in mind is that there will be boat rentals available on the lake.

The Date
Lets try and narrow this date down. Even tho its early, I'd like to hear what the majority thinks on any date PRE memorial day weekend or PAST memorial day weekend.
In the past I have been tournament director for our region 5 in ohio BASS federation, and getting this get together is no big deal at all..I've done literally dozens and dozens of them. What makes this extremely easy on this trip is there are no tourney fees, launch times, weigh ins to coordinate, or rules on being on time and the catches.. So, that being said all we have to do is get a list of ppl that want to go, get in touch with the agreed campsite, call for rates and reservations and all show up. In the past I've gone to 7 of the redman tourneys and we stayed from Tuesday thru Sunday. With this group I'd expect some will get there a day early, but generally speaking its going to be a weekend deal for most of us. Once I get in contact with the campgrounds on availability, I'll see what is required to reserve the sites...I'd much rather have each party pay for their campsite on their own, after finding out if we need to pay in advance or more likely show up and pay. After we decide on the date I'll get more concrete idea of what they want. I've always stayed in the cabin or other lodging at Big Bear Creek and Moors, and plan on asking the guys at work that camp what it takes to get some spots reserved....either verbal or money sent to reserve. This way it relieves me of having to front out any money or collect money from the gang going, one less thing to worry about. All of these coves are just 5-10 minute boat ride to the main Ky Lake river, the campground is right at the big bear resort, its very accessible to go out and venture out to the main body of water. SO...lets put our head together and pick a date, any time is fine with me... I've seen spawns at Ky lake in May, every year is dif as everyone knows. Heres one of the guides on the lake BOOKMARK this site and get daily fishing reports and conditions... this info will come in handy right before we go down there. JB, first of all I want to say thank you for taking on the role of Coordinator, I believe that you will do a top notch job.
As far as setting the date, lets start the discussion with the dates of 16th and 17th of May, this is the weekend before the Memorial Day weekend. Like I said this is just a start. |

I figure if we get the date narrowed down early enough the guys in clubs or on a tournament schedule will already have a date down for this forum and can work around it, instead of vice versa
woody thanks for the kind words |

Thanks,
That's a real good approach JB. And I'm glad we got this started as early as we did and I will definitely lend a hand whenever I can to help out. |

And I'll set up tripwires in a 30-ft radius around the tent. Anybody gets too close, and.......well, let's just say nobody will try twice.
Sounds like we picked the right guy to be the coordinator for this thing. Way to step up, JB. As far as a date, I'm pretty much open except for the wekend of March 21. Our anniversary is the 19th, so I'm keeping that weekend open. So, the other 3 weekends in March, all of April, May, June...So far, this is the only thing I've got any plans at all for. That makes it easy. |

i do plan on attending and bringing a friend. any date should work for me other than the 23rd of any month, 15th of june, and may 30th. i also plan on bringing a tent and maybe renting a boat. we'll see how money is first. lol
