Froggin' Son's 3rd Citation this year!!!
Took my son Cole to NorthEast Creek Reservoir in Louisa County today.. He wanted to do some froggin' I Let him use my 7'6" Abu Veritas with 20# Flouro.. He caught this pig on a Spro Frog in the dollar pads in mid day..
7 # 10 oz, 23" long Roland Martin Jr. Strikes again.. It was a wild strike & getting it out was a chore, but we made it!

IT's really my jig rod & not a froggin rod thus the flouro.. I know the flouro sinks, but we made the best of it....

Very nice fish for anyyone, dollar pads exist here but never seem to get thick or a patch of it due to competition from american lotus, there fluro would be the wrong line.
Early on resemble lilly pads. Later on they get rather large ,grow in 4-5 ft of water and develop thick arm size roots. Pondweed here also is in competition with dollar lillys,as it grows shallower. Nice to have a good place to fish and take your son there for quality time, with the added benefit of a citation. Last edited by lilmule; 05-30-11 at 06:58 AM. |

I know you are proud. You need to get the boy an entry fee to a local tourney and turn him loose. I tend to catch more fish in the dollar pads myself. I love to find them in the midst of the bigger ones. I guess it is easier for them to come up through them and strike. But anyways, congrats to the boy and Pig Fo Sho!

Virginia issues plaques for trophy fish.. better know as citation fish....Largemouth must either be 8 pounds or at least 22" long . See Virginia's program

Sam - What's the limitations on that body of water? Can you have a gas motor on the boat and still launch? Or is it limited to trolling motor only? How are the ramps?

Smitty, NO gas motors allowed. Ramp is ok... not the best but will work. That being said, I've seen people out there with gas motors on the back. Guy from the water authority says none allowed at all...

Great looking fish!! All of the no gas outboard lakes that I've seen, especially the ones with real boat ramps will allow O/B motors as long as you don't start it up. Even bureaucrats understand how much trouble it can be to take 4-5 hundred pounds off to go fishing on one particular lake. The little lake that I fish close by is that way. As long as the motor is shut off, I'll tilt it on down. Helps to hold the boat straight in the wind. Check the local regs. Or ask someone.

Guy from water authority may or may not be correct. And wouldn't be the first time that misinformation was spread. Let me take a look at the VGIF website *Edit* Checked the VGIF website and it's stated like the other reservoirs so I sent John an email to see. Last edited by 3dkicker; 06-28-11 at 05:37 PM. |

let me know what the answer is... I was just relaying what the H20 guy across the road said.. YOu can buy a permit from there... I always buy my permit from Gary @ Gordonsville Sport Supply, but I have to get my son a free daily pass from the H20 Authority.

I read on the the VDIF website about the $2 pass per day fee. Odenkirk sent me a response and is looking into it. He didn't know so that means it's not a lake in his region so he'll probably ask one of his coworkers that is more familiar with that body of water.
