I'm fixin to upgrade to a 24V TM. Can I hook my depthfinder, bilge etc to the terminals of one of the batteries or what? **since almost every place I fish is electric only I have no need for an outboard, so I'm just dealing with two big deep cycles**
Follow up query....I've decided I definately want variable speed ......do any of yall have strong preferences or pros/cons between MK Maxxum and MG Tour (aside from the whole Ford/Chevy type of opinions)? fwiw I've never owned a MK in fourty years+ but I'm not married to them, just wondering if I could ever get used to the pedal? Follow up 2....I've got a high end portable charger (micro processor-3 stage etc) now. Can I use it by hooking to pos of one battery and neg to the other battery (like I do now for charging two 12's in parallel) or do I need a 2 bank charger? Follow up 3...I fish lots of skinny water and with my current MG I can loosen the nut and lift the tm shaft all the way up......looking at the MK I don't see a nut to loosen.....if the depth of the MK is not easily adjustable that might be a deal breaker?

No buy a 2 bank, depth is adjustable on just about all trolling motors as for getting used to the pedal its an individual thing thus why I have a hand control with foot on off switch and an extended handle.
With a set of jumper cables one can hook from neg to neg and pos to pos like jumping a car just jumping second battery and dividing amps between making it slow charge and if not clamped good or loses its grip second battery doesn't charge, buy a simple 2 bank. Try using a 12v charger across 24 v like pos to neg do some arc wielding. With charger and wiring not coming out so well, another reason the old Charge, RUN SWITCH IS NO LONGER ON THE BOW OF MOST BOATS NOWDAYS., Last edited by lilmule; 12-31-13 at 09:49 AM. |
