Is there a reason you want to get a new motor? $6K is a lot for new power on a 12 year old boat that is worth about $8K with the current power.

The whole E-Tec vs Optimax thing is a bit of a hornet's nest, really. I think you will find a bunch of guys who think one is great and the other is crap, and vice-versa.
In truth, I think both are probably great motors (I must admit, I own a Opti' 115, and I love it, though I really need a bigger one). You probably couldn't go wrong with either. Just get the best deal you can, regardless. Shop around, and don't play the marketing games.
