Default Proud American!

After the Japanese decimated our fleet in Pearl Harbor Dec. 7, 1941, they could have sent thier troop ships and carriers directly to California to finish what they started. The prediction from our Chief of Staff was we would not be able to stop a massive envasion till it hit the Mississippi river. Remember, we had a 2 million man army and warships at other locations, so why did they not invade?
After the war, the remaining Japanese generals and admirals were asked that question. Thier answer...they knew that almost every home had guns, and the Americans knew how to use them.
The worlds largest army, AMERICAS HUNTERS!
A blogger added up deer license sales in just a handful of states and arrived at a striking conclusion:
There were over 600,000 hunters this season in the state of Wisconsin.
Over the last several months, Wisconsin's hunters became the eighth largest army in the world. More people under arms than in Iran, more than France and Germany combined.
The point?
America will always be safe from foriegn invasion with that kind of HOMEGROWN firepower.

I thank you all!
If your not a gun owner, stop by your nieghbers tonight and thank them!

Oh ya, as many have probably quessed, it's still raining and 43 degrees here today. Fluke!

Amen to that! I am a staunch supporter of our 2nd Amendment and the NRA. People without means to protect themselves become easy targets.

So where do I start? Rifle or Pistol? I have always thought guns were awesome, but as fishing can be to a newbie, I just don't know where to start with guns, and I ain't talking about my biceps, lol.

IB, I'd start with a Ruger 10/22 rifle. It's an inexpensive, fun gun, and the ammo is cheap. You can plink for hours with it on Coke cans and stuff. Once you get comfortable with that, you can move up. But definitely start with a .22.

That's excellent advice, I agree completely.

Amen, Joedog, amen. I was raised in N. AL and was taught to hunt when my mom's 410 was only slightly shorter than I was. Haven't hunted in many years but no one is going to take my gun from me unless they pry it from my cold dead fingers.

I might have to vote for one of those over/under 410/.22's. First gun I was allowed to carry off into the woods by myself as a kid. Talk about versatile. Is this turning into a hijack or just a natural direction for OP to go?

I started on a .410/22 overunder.
Great and fun gun.
Great squirl/rabbit gun.
Next was 20 gauge.
I lived with a gun colector when I was younger, he had 30 visible guns, a locked gun safe with who knows how many and he slept with a pistol under his mattres. The nut was a blackbelt and like 6'8", 280lbs.
Man did I sleep well in those days!
