Storm Swimbaits
I bought a pack of those 6" Storm swimbaits (shad color) the other day and took them to some ponds I fish. We didn't have much luck Saturday but before we left I made a cast (with the swimbait) to a sunken tree in some deep water off the bank and wham... caught a 6lber. She was 23" long but skinny. She had the entire swimbait in her mouth. There are some hawg bass in those ponds and I think they will smoke that bait. I had smaller fish hit it but couldn't eat it. I don't expect to catch a lot of bass on it but the ones that eat it should be nice!

I purchased a pack of those about 3 weeks ago, the one that I have is the bluegill with the hook on the top and a treble hook on the bottom. I took this lure up to the galena river which is a small river off of lake michigan, and we fished for about 3 hours and we caught three 5 to 10 lb pike and a few 2lb bass. From what we seen it appers to be very natural swimming and worked pretty well. We fished this lure with a slow retrieve.

The one I used looks like the one JB posted but it only had a single hook (no treble). It looks like a shad and was 6" long. Weighs probably on ounce too. I felt like I was heaving it like I was surf fishing! LOL

Im gonna need to get some of them. i be they would work real good in this lake i fish at. The bass there dont go for anything except something that is shaped liek a real fish. I've tried every type of worm you can think of and its all the same. No bites at all I tried dead live fish and they worked great. i caught a 4 pounder not bad its what i usually get.

Donīt be harsh on the guy, he meant those preserved shiners & minnows they sell prepacked for bait, they are very popular in Europe to fish for zander, pike, trout and salmon rigged on jigheads.

I fish them the same way i fish a spinnerbait-just chunk and wind. Actually that is not quite right-more like a trap. Steady retrieve, rip 'em, yo-yo them, etc.

Up north especially in summer I use them in anywhere from 20-40 feet of water on our clear lakes. Sharper the break/ledge, the better. I'll parallel the breaks. Cast it out...let it fall. Give it 8-10 quick reels to hop it up and get it to rise, then let it fall on semi-slack line and it'll kick back down to the bottom. Fish will usually nail it on the fall. What a strike too. Hold on to your rod.

I dont think there is a right or wrong way, try all the ways you know how to retrive them and when you catch the fish keep going with it.

The way I was fishing it when I caught that bass was... let it sink to the bottom then a slow steady retrieve. I bumped it into a tree branch and the fish smacked it when it came over the branch. I switched up and would swim it then let it fall... tried different things but that was the only fish I caught on it but hey... it was worth it to me!
