Default Penn Reels

Are Penn reels any good and has anyone used them before. I am thinking about getting a Penn baitcaster.

Ya just can't beat a Penn product if you can afford it...talk to any deepsea fishermen ,,its #1...
I'll stick to shimano and quantum, but have had Diawa and Ambassader and many others, you get about what you pay for.
If you're just starting out any baitcaster in the 39-49 dollar range will do.
I won't go any higher than around a 100 bucks anymore, My equipment has been good to me, most of the damage I get is in the truck comming and going, i.e.
broken ceramic inserts on the eyelets, or scratches...
Diawa stepped up thier program about 10 years ago and have some really nice reels, shimano always did have nice stuff, quantum beefed up thier product in mid 90's.
I started out with Abu Garcia round reels and they do the job just fine, I just like the oval shaped baitcaster for the way i hold on to them as I flip or reel the lure in or work it..

penns are made mostly for inshore or blue water fishing i personly own about 15 penn reels there is NO WAY i would use them for bass fishing. if you are in the market for a good solid reel an ambassador 4600-5500 are kicking spinner bait reels.

Well the Monkey got to me and I got a new 151 low profile Master by Penn off of Ebay for $25 bucks. I think it will be fine. It's got 4 bearings which is a lot less than my pro qualifier but I need a new reel fast because its wearing out an my extreme is really jacked up right know. THe instant anti reverse doesn't seem to work anymore. You guys can go to ebay and check out the reel I got under baitcaster and see if it looks any good to you guys. It should be under baitcasters somewhere.
