Welcome to the forum!

Dan, this time of year I go with baits that resemble shad-spinnerbaits, soft jerkbaits like a Tiki Stick or Zoom Fluke, hard jerkbaits like a Smithwick Rogue, and a topwater is always worth a try. The lipless crankbait is a great bait to throw both in the fall and the spring. Once again, shad colored baits get the nod-chrome/blue or black back and Smokey Joe are my favorites.

tubes are good in the same locations you fish a plastic worm. I'd throw the white tube-it resembles shad. Rig it like a Texas rig worm and throw it in and around cover.

Try to find cover-weeds, timber, etc. near deep water. The bigger fish will come up shallow to feed and then head back into deeper water. The colder the water, the slower you want to fish.
