Thumbs up SWEET a duckett rod

after boyd duckett left e21/ carrot stick rods..he went on to build his own rods.
i got to fondle one today. they are a very WHITE rod blank. with eyes so tiny that in my opinion you'll be hard pressed to put any braid over 80 pound test or any fat dia.mono over 15 pound test thru them??..

i was test driving a 7 foot heavy action model, while the monkey was off misbehaving and only made me pick up my ordered custom cranks.

dam that rod was SWEET i tell ya it had FROG wrote all over it..
i just may have to go back tomarrow afternoon,my monkey is insistating.

I wonder how they are doing all of these colored rods. Are they painting them, or are they created like this before rolling out? It seems like over time, if they are painted, they would crack. But I reckon it is the same thing with a black rod. I think the raw color is like a gray.

i put a well worn lews bbn1 on the 7'6'' casting rod, loaded with 12 pound ande mono and a dt6...

"HOLY FLYING RATS FUZZY NUGGETS!!!" or something along that line.. second cast went 85 yards thru a 20 mph cross wind and i can't even get a full power cast yet, do to my finger/grip being messed up..

err first cast hit in a peacan tree around the 60 yard mark..

never been able to get a dt6 that long-my best was around 50 or so..

85 yards. That is amazing. I need to get my reels serviced. I can do about 40 to 60 with the wind. I just got a new deep crank outfit. Haven't tried it yet. Maybe I can get some distance with it.

The should last just as long as regular guides if not longer. Being that they are so short they would be quite a bit harder to bend or break. Since they sit so low on the blank they are less likely to get snagged on things. The construction is exactly the same as full size guides.

a $149 with tax..the one thing i notice right away was ya have to bring the bait all the way back to the but of the rod. as you can't hang a crank hook in the eyes..this IS a good thing as those of you who have a rod box in your boat will agree..

Just curious, Zook, but why lefty? I know you have said you can cast with either hand, but wondering why lefty for flipping?

BTW excellent reel choice.

Forgive my stupidity, but i am having a hard time seeing how micro guides can help you cast futher. It just doesn't make sense to me. They are so tight and small i don't see how it helps. But there are a lot of things i don't understand.Haha. But at $149.00 it seems like a pretty good deal. And like jrob stated, and the guides look great too. Same "type" of guides, but smaller and less likely to break and bent and so forth. This is very interesting to me.
And bb...i like the white color. Every rod out there seems to be a dar color with the exception of the carrot stick, most are kinda of dull too. White is a nice change. Not as loud as say yellow or orange.....i like white.

They're said to reduce the line "line slapping." Meaning that the line does not slap around in the guides during a cast. The Micro guides prevent this, the line will do in a straighter line. This is what I've heard, as to WHY it really does it (I'm not saying this is not it) improve casting distance, I'm not 100%.`

Duckett might be a really good fisherman, but he makes a couple of really silly comments on his website.

The thing about fish not vibrating really made me laugh.

you don't have to switch hands,on the cast..it actually reduces fatique..
i use a left reel for the t-rig,jig,the frog, and the buzzbait..once you get used to a lefty reel and see the benefits.

several years ago ,actually i tore a tendon in my left wrist. a week prior to the 6 man federation tourny.i could not even hold a rod,so i borrowed a couple lefty reels..and never looked back
