Rocket Shad question
My son gave me an 1/2 oz. Rocket Shad for christmas. I've seen comments in here about using the Rocket Shad. I've never used one before and am looking forwared to using it. My question for you is under what conditions do you prefer to use it? Also, do you ever alter it in any way, such as replacing the double hook that comes with it or adding a trailer to the bait. And lastly, what is your favorite way to work the bait. Thanks guys!

I'd say with that single colorado blade and compact size, any time you see schooling shad being busted, that size works wonders here on the ohio river in the fall, 1/4 ounce size...and yes I'd throw a trailer on there, mr. twister grub ..

Over the grass lines when you have little bait popping out of the water avoiding the bigger fish chasing them.I hate the english style hook on them, Going to be looking for a alternative hook system for them , I will let you know what I find works for me.I don't use a trailer hook, its all about the small profile that makes them work so well for me. I put a split ring, then a red gammy treble on, and it worked fine for me!

I have got a idea of using a hook like this. The hook will stay with the flexible section so the heavy lure weight can't pop it free as it can with the hooks on them from Strike King. http://www.mytackle.net/Gamakatsu%20...er%20Hooks.htm

I wonder what if one took off the double hook that comes with the lure and replace it with a dress treble, like with a mepps inline spinner. Would give the existing skirt more body. Would not be as weedless though as with the upright double hook it has now.

A dressed treble might not be the best idea, as these are meant for a SMALL profile. Try it though!
