3/16oz, 1/4oz, or 3/8oz Buzzbait in chartreuse, white, or a mix of the two.

The closed loop snags the knot all the time and pinches your line.

Buzzbaits early morning, then Rattletraps and spinnerbaits after the sun hits the water.

With all the talk about buzzbaits in this post, what about the Zara Spooks? Seems to me walkin the dog would also be successful?

Definitely my favorite time of year! Buzzbaits, Frogs and toads (G-ville!), spinnerbaits and lipless Crankbaits, and Never Ever Leave Home without the weightless soft jerkbaits!!! There are several other good patterns working as well, depending on the type of water you are fishing, but those are my favorites in no particular order.

Default What about after the weeds die in the fall?

I went out Wednesday and Thursday this week. It hasn't rained in about 3 weeks, so the water was exceptionally clear; about 5 to 6 ft visibility which is clear for this lake. The water temp was in the upper 50's and most of the weeds had eiether died or were dying; which killed my go-to tatics. Flukes, plastic worms and spinner-baits shallow and near shore produced only 6 or 8 inchers. Those little bass were verocious and attacked any lure upto their own size! I had a bit more success near shore that dropped into deep water. I was able to find a few sumbmerged stumps and trees that I hadn't seen before due to water clarity; and throwing a diving crankbait that ran 7 to 10 feet deep worked really well. The lake has changed so much in the past month it's amazing. I've learned that tatics have to change as the lake changes.
