If you fish off color water, I reccomend the Cabelas Pro Line Monofilament in Root Beer Brown. Perfect line for ponds. I also reccomend picking up the 30 Piece Bass Bonanaza Kit, 30 lures and 3700 series box for only 20 dollars! I have one, and I am waintin till the ned of the month to test the lures out.

Conventional wisdom would say single blade Colorado spinnerbaits and rattling crankbaits.

But I've fished a section of the Erie Canal for 13 years where the water is murky green and has visibility of about 12-18" at its clearest.

But conventional wisdom hasn't proved to be valid here, as some of my best producers have been quiet baits, such as Shad Raps and small grubs on jigheads.

Having said that, I'd still buy some baits per the conventional wisdom, because you'll probably have more confidence in them.

Just a guess, but your slow year might have very well been due to factors other than the lures you were using.
